Even though it has its moments, the beauty community online is one of my favorite things ever. It has brought so many great things in my life. It has especially brought a lot of great product recommendations.
The beauty world is overflowing with products and the beauty creators I follow all over social are constantly curating their product recommendations. Which in turn makes me update my beauty wishlist all the time. I tend to follow people with the same makeup style as mine and similar skin tone/type because that way their recommendations feel more tailored. And I’m always much more influenced to buy something when the chances of me loving it are greater.
So I basically wrote this long, winded intro to let you guys know that I buy a bunch of things that beauty creators recommend. And today I wanna share eight of the best beauty products the internet made me buy.
Check them out!
This is my latest internet influenced purchase. The second it came out, everyone on Instagram was reviewing it and sharing beautiful pictures and, I’m not gonna lie, it was the packaging that drew me in. But this also has niacinamide which is one of my favorite ingredients and that’s what ultimately made me buy it.
And I have no regrets! This serum is beautiful for combo/oily skin cause it gives you a dew but it doesn’t make you look greasy. It’s packed with hydrating ingredients that nourish the skin and it works perfectly under makeup. Bonus: it has Glow Recipe’s signature watermelon scent.
When this came out the beauty world exploded. Literally. Everyone raved about it and it was sold out everywhere. Which only made me want it more! My favorite YouTubers featured it in their videos all the time and I was so drawn to it.
Even though it was expensive, this product is totally worth it. It’s the most unique highlighter-esque product I’ve tried. I use it as a primer, a highlighter, and sometimes I even use it as a ‘foundation’. This makes your skin glow from within. It has no chunky glitter, no noticeable shimmer. It’s quite literally a glow that blurs the skin beautifully. This is probably one of the best products the internet has made me buy.
This is another newer purchase and another no-brainer. When the Rare Beauty line launched everyone on Insta and Youtube was testing it out and reviewing it. I was intrigued but not 100% convinced that I needed to try it out. What ultimately led me to purchase the concealer was this amazing video of Jamie Paige’s mom reviewing the line. If you haven’t watched it, you need to, right this second.
I bought this concealer two times. And both times I got the wrong shade cause apparently I’m not that good at my job. But anyway, I really like it! It’s a drier concealer which is perfect for my combo skin but it doesn’t make my eyes look heavy. It has medium buildable coverage and it feels so lightweight no matter how much you pile it on. My favorite thing about it has got to be the price. The entire line is much more affordable than what you usually find in Sephora and I’m definitely not complaining about that!
Is this a throwback or what? This was probably my first internet influenced purchase and it’s still one of my favorites to this day. Becca highlighters were everything on Youtube a few years ago and I desperately wanted one. I also used to be a mega-fan of Jaclyn Hill so, of course, I went ahead and bought this when I had the chance.
Even though I’m not big on intense highlighters anymore, I still reach for this. It’s a beautiful champagne color and the formula is unmatched. Very buttery and bendable without looking chalky or chunky. Even though it’s intense, the shimmer is finely milled so it always looks classy. Never glittery. This was an expensive purchase but I’m sure it’s gonna last me for the rest of my life.
In the era of soap brows, it’s no wonder that this became as popular as it did. My fellow beauty friends on Instagram were constantly posting about this and I was intrigued by the concept. Everyone wants fluffy, full brows– including me– so I took the multiple recommendations and bought it.
I’ve only played with it for a few months but I really enjoy it. It makes my brows look very fluffy and enhances their bushiness. It also keeps my stubborn hairs under control and keeps my brows lifted for hours on end. Unlike a brow gel, this formula is very lightweight and it doesn’t really set. So there are no hard brows with this product. It has a bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy. In my opinion, it’s a bit messy and can get on the skin around your brows when you’re applying it. But I think it’s because I bought the tinted one. The clear one must be even easier to use.
You guys know I love this one. And it was indeed influenced by some of my favorite YouTubers. I would have never bought a palette this expensive if I didn’t see and hear all the rave that it was getting online. And boy am I thankful I did!
This is hands down my favorite, most used palette ever. The color scheme is everything I need to create any look. I can create very natural easy looks and intense smokey looks. There’s a good mix of warm tones and a few cool tones so I have options. On top of all that, the shadows are of great quality so you definitely get what you paid for. Thank you internet for making me buy this!
This is another Instagram inspired purchase. Much like all my other Glossier purchases. A few years ago I started getting into natural makeup on a daily basis and this mascara seemed to have everything I was looking for.
It definitely did! And while I have found dupes, there’s nothing quite like it. It’s a fiber mascara that lifts and separates the lashes in the most natural way you can imagine. You can build it up as much as you want and it will always look natural. No clumps here. I love it for everyday wear because it makes my lashes look enhanced but it doesn’t look like I’m wearing any product. It’s also very easy to remove, with the fibers and all.
This was my most influenced purchase of last year. I couldn’t go on any social media platform without seeing or hearing about this. Everyone on Instagram was raving about it on stories. Everyone on YouTube was doing swatch videos. And Isa could simply not resist. Especially since I’m on a gloss kick at the moment.
These are some of my favorite glosses ever. You know this cause I already reviewed them and mentioned them multiple times. They’re glossy but hydrating and slightly plumping at the same time. They’re magic if you ask me. I love the formula, I love the colors, and I love the price. Maybelline really hit it out of the park with this one. 10/10 would recommend!
I have many more internet influenced purchases but these are some of my all-time favorites. Let me know if you’d like a part two!
