Whenever a new season rolls around I always find myself switching up my skincare routine. Because the weather affects our skin so directly, it’s important to switch products every once in a while.
And now, as we transition into fall, it’s time for another product switch! During the colder months, the air is less humid and it can get pretty harsh. Which, in turn, causes our skin to be drier. Do you see why it’s important to tweak our skincare routine?
When it gets cold outside, the number one thing to focus on is moisture. Keeping the skin as hydrated as possible is the key to success. I also find that adding some gentle exfoliation to your routine helps you get rid of all the flaky skin and makes way for new, beautiful skin.
Because the beauty world is oversaturated, it can be hard to know which products you should turn to. Luckily, I’ve done my homework, and I found 7 products that will make your skincare transition into fall, easy peasy.
Check them out!
Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine™ Makeup Removing Meltaway Cleanser | $30
Everyone on my Insta feed is loving this cleanser at the moment and I think I know why.
This is a very gentle cleanser filled with hydrating ingredients that get rid of makeup and everyday grime. It’s perfect as the first step of a double cleanse routine or it can be used on its own. The hydrating and soothing ingredients make this cleanser the perfect candidate for all skin types.
Korres Wild Rose Petal Soft Cream Exfoliator | $28
Exfoliation is important all year round. But it’s especially important when it gets cold out to help you get rid of all the flaky, dead skin buildup. It can be especially helpful in this transition to help us get rid of some dark spots that might be leftover from summer.
This is a very gentle product that mixes chemical and physical exfoliators for the best results. It’s also full of soothing ingredients that keep the skin from freaking out. This exfoliator safe to use on a daily basis but I recommend using it 2-3 times a week to prevent any irritation in the skin.
The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum | $7.99
In my opinion, hyaluronic acid is a must in every skincare routine. Especially when our skin is drying out because of weather-related things. HA helps other moisturizing products we put into our skin absorb better and it’s great on everyone’s skin.
This one by The INKEY List is a very basic affordable Hyaluronic Acid. It’s mixed with a few other ingredients to make the formula as effective as possible but, in its essence, it’s very straightforward. This is perfect to layer with other serums or under your moisturizer for an extra boost. If your skin is feeling irritated HA is one of those ingredients that will soothe it instead of making it worse.
Innisfree Ginger Honey Nourishing Cream | $28
As the weather gets colder, we all benefit from a thicker moisturizer. Even us oily-skinned people. The trick is finding a formula that works for you.
This moisturizer is perfect for fall because one of its main ingredients is honey. Honey is a great humectant and paired with ginger it makes the perfect hydrating and soothing cream. This is a thicker cream so it’s best suited for dryer skin types. But it all depends on the climate you’re at and how your skin reacts to it.
Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm | $22
We could all benefit from a good lip balm during fall/winter. The lips can sometimes go neglected but they deserve some love and protection as well!
This balm by Summer Fridays is a hit on social media because it’s very nice and hydrating. It is filled with great ingredients that moisturize and repair your lips and it smells like vanilla. You can use this balm as an overnight mask or layer it under other lip products for ultimate protection.
Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask | $48
You guys know I can’t leave masks behind! They’re always a great addition to every routine and they can really make a difference.
This cult-favorite by YTTP is an overnight mask that hydrates and brightens. It’s filled with great ingredients like squalane, HA, and Vitamin C. The Vitamin C will help your skin get rid of hyperpigmentation over time and the squalane and HA will quench your skin’s thirst. This is the perfect mask for fall.
CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum | $19.99
Retinol can be very scary to use. Especially during the colder months. But, from my experience, it’s the perfect time to incorporate it into your routine since we get less sun exposure during fall & winter. If you’re struggling with skin texture or acne, retinol can be your hero ingredient.
This Retinol Serum by CeraVe is the perfect beginner’s retinol. It’s also perfect for sensitive skin. The formula of this is very gentle and filled with skin-friendly ingredients. It obviously contains Retinol but it also contains ceramides and other soothing ingredients to protect your moisture barrier and prevent irritation. Retinol is not an everyday product. You only need to use it 1-2 times a week and you’ll still see results.
And there you have it. 7 products that will help you transition your skincare routine into fall. Let me know which products you reach for when it starts getting cold outside.
