The internet is a beautiful space for many different reasons. But my favorite part of the internet is the beauty community, obviously. There’s a lot of information coming and going and it’s super easy to become informed of what’s going on in the beauty world.
Over the years I’ve let myself be influenced by the beauty community online. Like I’m sure many people have. I’d say like 80% of my collection consists of products that I’ve read or heard about online.
And while that can be a great thing, there’s also a downside. You see, sometimes products work out for you (amazing!), and sometimes they don’t. No matter how many beauty gurus rave about them.
So today I’ve gathered up 8 beauty products from my collection that the internet made me buy, and I’ve compiled them into this beautiful post for your enjoyment.
Btw, I’m aware I’ll sound like a victim of the internet this whole time but I’m conscious of the fact that I chose to buy these products. I just thought the title had a nice ring to it…
NYX Butter Gloss
This is one of the OGs of the beauty community. Back in the day everyone online was raving about how amazing these glosses were. So naturally, I bought them immediately.
To this day, they are still some of my favorite glosses. They’re glossy but not sticky. The shade range is bomb. They smell like heaven. And they’re affordable. What else could you want?
The internet really had my back on this one.
Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer
This one’s another classic. Everyone and their dogs was talking about the Hoola Bronzer when I started getting into makeup. I think this was the first bronzer I ever bought. And I wasn’t disappointed.
Hoola Bronzer is great because it’s a bronzer you can use for contour and bronze. It’s really pigmented and it looks beautiful on the skin. The shade of the original Hoola is quite universal but they’ve come out with lighter and deeper shades recently.
I rarely ever reach for it anymore even though I still enjoy it. It’s definitely not a favorite but it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Colourpop Lippie Stix
To be honest, most of my Colourpop purchases have been influenced by the internet. There was a time when everyone was talking about the brand and I really wanted to own Colourpop products. Especially their Lippie Stix.
These are affordable and come in many different colors. Of course I bought a ton of them! And I fell in love with them upon first application. They’re amazing and 100% worth the hype.
As I mentioned, they come in different colors and a bunch of formulas, so there’s something for everyone. Through the years they’ve come up with new colors and formulas but they’re still as amazing as when they first came out. I still reach for them and love them as much as the first time I applied one to my lips.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer
The internet literally made me buy this concealer. I literally had no choice. Nobody shut up about the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer for a good year or so. Beauty gurus were talking about it like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. (It kinda was.)
I obviously had to try it for myself. And I am happy to inform that the internet was also right with this one! This is one of the fullest coverage concealers I’ve ever used. The formula is extremely effective and long-lasting.
I still reach for this when I’m looking for something that will hide my dark circles completely. And it still does the trick.
Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette
When this palette first was announced, I knew I had to have it. I’m obsessed with peach and this palette obviously had a lot of it. When everyone started giving it rave reviews, I was sold.
This was, hands down, the hardest palette to track down. It was sold out everywhere and I looked for it all over the world. Literally! A year after its initial release, I finally bought it. And I loved it!
The colors in the palette were super unique and unlike anything I owned at the time. The peach scent was the cherry on top. But after a few months of playing with it, I kinda forgot it existed. And eventually I stopped using it altogether.
I still think the palette is nice but I kinda regret buying it because I don’t use it anymore.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
I feel like this is another product that took the beauty community by storm. Everyone talked about the Butter Bronzer for a long time. They still do! And since it’s a drugstore product, I didn’t even think twice about getting my hands on it.
This is one of my favorite products that the internet made me buy. The formula is buttery, it looks perfect on the skin and it smells like heaven. I talk about it all the time. I’ve actually hit pan on mine so that’s testament of how much I enjoy it.
I obviously still reach for this a lot and there’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll repurchase it once I run out.
Glossier Boy Brow
Boy Brow is one of Glossier’s holy-grail products. It’s kinda what made them famous in the beauty community. Everyone always gave it rave reviews and they always talked about how amazing it was. So naturally, I got it.
When I first started to use it, I loved it. The formula is very unique and it makes your brows look beautiful. I’m sure you all know by now. And at the time, it was my favorite brow gel! I went through 2 tubes of it, which is an achievement for me.
But it isn’t my fave anymore. I still enjoy it and use it a few times a week, but it is no longer my brow gel of choice.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder
This wasn’t as big of a rave product as all of the other ones in this post, but people still talked about it. This is an expensive product so it took a lot of convincing from my favorite beauty gurus to buy it.
And once I got it, I loved it immediately. It’s very light-weight and it makes the skin look flawless. I don’t own anything else like it. And even though I love it, I never use it cause I don’t wanna run out.
If I had the chance to rethink this purchase, I wouldn’t buy it. I think the powder is amazing but it’s a little too expensive for me. But that’s just my personal opinion.
I have a lot more where these came from, but for the sake of this post, I’ll limit it to 8 products.
What about you? What are some product that the internet made you buy?
Thank you so much for reading, babes!
Lots of love,
