You know, highlighter has been all the rage for quite a while now and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. Everybody in the beauty community loves highlighter and wishes they could bathe in it. Trust me, I understand.
But, there are days when I wish I could look like I’m naturally glowing. And Becca Champagne Pop does not give me that effect. At all.
Fortunately as my makeup collection grows I’ve bought many different highlighters that are more on the natural side of things. Because we all have those days when we want to blind people but in a subtle way.
If you wanna know which products I use to achieve the subtle glow look, keep reading.
The natural highlight aka. strobing look is one of the easiest things to achieve, if you have the right products. It’s best worn when you have minimal makeup on since it enhances your natural features.
There are many products you can use to achieve this look. But my favorite are cream/liquid highlighters because they melt into the skin and therefore give a more natural look. You can totally use any highlighter you already own but cream products are definitely more effective.
The key to nailing this trend is to look for highlighters that are more satin-y and sheen-y as opposed to glittery and metallic. Because, let’s face it, super reflective highlighter is not natural.
One of my favorite formulas is the Colourpop Super Shock Highlighters because it goes on like a cream but it sets down to a powder. They have really intense shades but they also have a few shades that are a lot more subtle. They have a wide variety of colors, so no matter your skin tone you can find a highlighter.
Also on the more affordable end of the spectrum is the Maybelline Master Strobing Stick. This one can be layered to look intense but if you use a light hand it looks very natural. This formula also sets down to a powder finish and it lasts quite long on the cheeks. They only have 2 shades though, which means this might not work for everyone.
The Glossier Haloscope is hands down the most natural out of the four. There’s a balm in the center of the product which gives this highlighter a glossy look. Naturally, when we sweat, there’s a glossier reflect on our faces and this product mimics that while adding a bit of shimmer. Since the product is balmy it doesn’t completely set so I recommend using it with minimal face makeup to ensure longevity.
For a liquid formula I have the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighter. I have a tiny sample but it has lasted me ages. This product can also be layered for a super intense look but if you lightly apply it with your fingers or a damp sponge, the finish of it is very natural. The product does dry down after you apply it and it is really long-lasting.
What are you guys’ go-to natural highlighters? I’d love to hear from you in the comment section!
Thank you all so much for reading!
Lots of love,
Isa ❤
