Makeup Geek Eyeshadows Review & Swatches

Today I received my first ever Makeup Geek package in the mail! I have been a fan of Marlena for a little bit over a year now, and ever since she came out with her eyeshadows I have been wanting to try them.

I placed my order on Tuesday of last week and since it was international shipping it did take about nine days to get here. None of my shadows came damaged and they were wonderfully packed. They retail for $5.99 which is an amazing price, in my opinion. Overall I’m happy with Makeup geek as a company and I’m definitely gonna be ordering some more stuff soon.

Now for the shadows, I freaking love them! They’re very pigmented and buttery and everything that I would want in a shadow. I ordered neutral colors and they’re super pigmented, even the lightest shades. The mattes aren’t dry and neither the matte nor the shimmery shades have fallout. I’ve tried M.A.C. shadows as well (duh! Who hasn’t), and I can honestly say that after trying both I prefer MUG shadows better. They have better formulation and they blend like a dream. I’m super happy with my purchase.

Creme Brûlée is a very basic matte shadow, perfect for a transition color.

Beaches & Cream can also be a good transition shade if you have fair skin. If you have medium to dark skin this could be a good highlight color.

Mocha is a beautiful matte brown, perfect for deepening any eye look.

Corrupt is the blackest black of all blackness, literally. This color is perfect for a super dark smokey eye.

Cocoa Bear is a matte warm brown that can be used as a versatile crease shade.

Unexpected is a very unique matte purple taupe color, perfect to make any look unexpected.

Shimma Shimma is a ver popular MUG shade. It’s super shimmery like the name suggests and works really well all over the lid.

Prom Night is a metallic shimmery taupe shade. Mix this with Fix Plus or a little bit of water and it will make for a killer lid color.

Glamorous is a very subtle yellow gold. It’s a very pretty shade that can be worked in different ways.

Drama Queen is a beautiful, shimmery, dark purple shade. Super cool for a purple smokey eye.

I like to store my MUG shadows in a Z- Palette but they fit in M.A.C. palettes too. I bought my Z- Palette on the MUG website with the rest of my products. I find it really practical because I can move my shadows around them and there’s enough space to add some more shades to my collection.

These eyeshadows are amazing and I recommend them to everyone. If you’re a beginner these shadows are a cheap alternative and they also have amazing quality. These shadows were definitely a smart buy.
